Non-Fungible Token (NFT) games are all the rage with investors flocking to test out new ways to mint, invest, and sell their NFT tokens (and have fun doing so). As so many aspects of our lives are being gamified, there are hundreds of NFT games being released on the Blockchain every month.

Just this past year, the number of Active Blockchain games (defined as a game with at least one active wallet within the game in the past 24 hours) has doubled to nearly 400. Considering there is such a high demand for NFT collections and newly minted NFTs drop every day, it is hard to choose just one favorite game. We’ve combed the internet and are sharing 5 NFT Blockchain games we believe are set to soar in 2022. Click the links below to jump to the section, or scroll through them all!

#1: Alien Worlds

Alien Worlds NFT Game

Alien Worlds is one of the most popular NFT games running on WAX and Binance Smart Chain (BSC) which in the last 30 days reached a staggering 1,160,000 users. The game allows its users to (among many other benefits) stake their in-game resources and compete to hold in-game council positions which oversee the use of all planetary resources and reward pools. Players are able to select NFT game cards in their quest for dominance and are especially useful as they mine, fight and seek to complete challenging missions in-game. Rarity is a major concept in this NFT game. The different levels of scarcity include: Abundant, Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary, and Mythical. This mirrors the scarcity of NFTs themselves.

Trillium (TLM) functions as the in-game NFT (cross chain ERC-20 / BEP-20 / WAX fungible token) that allows for the transfer of value and is integral to in-game mining.

#2: Axie Infinity

Axie Infinity NFT Gameplay

Axie Infinity is one of the most popular NFT games in January 2022 with an impressive user count of more than 677,000 users. Axie Infinity can be compared to the popular Nintendo franchise game Pokémon. Axies are small collectible creatures similar to the in-game Pokémon that Nintendo made into a household name. Similar to the Pokémon game, Axie players also collect, breed, raise and trade their favorite Axie. In an effort to also make the game exciting, players compete against one another to level up their Axies and gain stature within the metaverse.

Each Axie is itself a non-fungible token (NFT) as are the accessories and products sold in-game. The Axie Marketplace features hundreds of Axies that can be bought and traded for real money (using two cryptocurrencies accepted in-game: SLP (or Smooth Love Potion) and AXS (or Axie Infinity Shard). The value of each Axie comes in at two to three hundred USD. As the scarcity of an Axie increases, so does its quality and value both in-game and on secondary markets. One extremely rare Axie sold for 300 ETH in January 2020. The one overarching takeaway that is evident is that Axie Infinity’s in-game economy is generating buzz.

Players start with an initial set of complimentary NFT cards with the objective being that they collect more powerful, and rare, cards through earning rewards or purchasing in-game booster packs. Booster packs carry their own appeal for players as each pack contains at least one guaranteed Rare or better NFT trading card to add to their collections. Players can also purchase or trade specific cards with other players to improve their odds of earning rewards in-game. The in-game economy and rarity of the NFT trading cards is what entices users to play this game each day.
